Yeah, I'll answered as far as I know.

Thus, in the UMTS network, there are a "radio access network" and "core network".
Radio access network (RAN) is a network of more focused to the radio. Parts of the network is included in the RAN node B and RNC.

Core network is the core network, which is divided into Packet Switched Core Network and Circuit Switched Core Network. Circuit Switched handles the voice services, while Packet Switched handles packet data services.
